  • Why subscribe to ThinkTank Trivia?
With ThinkTank Trivia, you’re getting a well-reviewed, fully-formed weekly trivia event at the fraction of the cost of hiring an outside company to run your trivia for you: Outside companies usually charge $250-$300 per event. Add in prizes (gift cards, food and drink, merchandise) and a food/drink tab for your host, and you could easily be looking at $1800 per month to have a weekly trivia event at your venue. With a ThinkTank Trivia subscription you can run a weekly event for half the price (even accounting for hiring a third-party host and prizes), making your trivia nights a more profitable endeavour. People love trivia, and ThinkTank trivia especially: over 125 5-star reviews in our home city of Victoria alone!
  • How does subscription work?

  • How do I run a trivia event?
  • What makes ThinkTank different?
Before I started ThinkTank, I spent over 15 years working in bars and restaurants, which gave me unique insight into crafting an event that would not only create and keep new regulars, but would do so with minimal strain on staff. Trivia questions are read from a slideshow that teams can scroll along with on their phones (and/or be projected onto your venue’s screens), which prevents misheard questions and keeps events flowing at a better pace. Screens allow players to make orders and take breaks during rounds, preventing bar and kitchen staff from being slammed once a round finishes. Another benefit of screens is accessibility: ThinkTank Trivia has received rave reviews from hard-of-hearing players, as well as those with sensory issues, who are folks that usually cannot play when trivia is simply being read off of a script. All of our questions are researched and written by ThinkTank’s founder (no AI!), a huge trivia buff. Questions are challenging, but fair - and fun! ThinkTank has years worth of material, so each weekly event will be completely unique - no repeat questions!
  • What does a trivia event look like?
You can click here to see an example of one of our trivia packages with an answer key. You will be provided with a QR code each week so teams can access these slides on their phones and follow along with your host, or you can put them up on your venue's screens. A ThinkTank Trivia event is split into four categories: ○ Ten general trivia questions ○ A photo or video round ○ A category round - we alternate between ten different categories, and each category round is five questions from two of them. Categories will change each week! ○ Our final round is a fun one, general trivia with a twist: This twist can be that each answer contains a number, or starts with the same letter. Maybe each answer starts with the last letter or contains a portion of the answer before it. We have over a dozen options to make the final round fun and memorable. ○ Each round, save for the photo/video round, contains two Name That Tune questions, which is why you’ll need a speaker. These Name That Tune answers contain a clue to one of the five answers before, adding another unique twist that makes ThinkTank Trivia stand out above other trivia providers. ○ Each round ends with a tie-breaker question.
  • What do we need to provide?
ThinkTank provides almost everything you need to run a great trivia night, you’ll need: ○ A host ○ A microphone (if your venue is large enough to warrant one) and a sound system for the Name That Tunes - this can be an in-house speaker system or a bluetooth speaker. ○ Pencils ○ Prizes (Gift Cards, Merchandise, Food/Drinks)
  • What should we use for prizes?
While bragging rights are the greatest prize of all, small prizes help ensure your trivia events are memorable and keep people coming back. Winners of each round can be awarded anything from small denomination gift cards, pitchers of house beer, or an appetizer. Merch provided by local breweries (and ThinkTank!) can make great prizes as well.
  • Who should we get to host?
We suggest hiring a server or bartender you already have on staff - they tend to be outgoing, and are likely already familiar with your sound system and regulars, making them valuable to spreading the word about your new trivia night! Another great option is reaching out to local stand-up comedians. Comedians are often looking for practice in front of crowds, and trivia nights are a great way to do that. Plus, making guests laugh is another great way to make your trivia night a memorable one!
  • How do we run an event?
When you sign up with ThinkTank Trivia, your welcome package will include a pamphlet detailing how to run a successful trivia night. Each week when you receive your questions and answers, you’ll also be provided with additional details about how rounds work.
  • How long is a trivia night?
That depends on how many teams are playing, and how fast your host is at marking answers. It’s best to assume they’ll be between 1.5 and 2 hours.
  • What is the best night to run a trivia event?
That’s up to you! A weeknight where you need to get butts into seats is usually a great trivia night!
  • What if we run out of answer sheets?
You can contact ThinkTank at any time via email, and we’ll send you extra answer sheets at no extra cost. When you sign up we’ll also provide you with a PDF so if you’re in a pinch they can be printed right away.
  • Can I start month-to-month, and then switch to a yearly subscription?
    Absolutely!
